    During the first winterstorm dumping up to 50cm of snow on to the Alps a cloud slot behind one of the fronts opened the sky allowing a gush of warm sunlight. Drivers on roads over all passes found them either closed or experienced at least severe winter conditions. This panorama depicts Pilatus above Luzern, lake Zug, the rollings foothills north-west of the alps and the moraines west and south of lake Zurich.
